Our Story – From Small Town Dreamer to The Aviation Mind

My name is Rajeev Ranjan, and my aviation journey began in 2014 when I was in Class 10. Even at that age, I knew I wanted to do something exciting and unique with my life, something that would take me beyond a routine career and closer to the skies. I discovered the world of pilots and immediately became fascinated, spending hours researching how to become a pilot and what it would take to build a life in aviation.

In 2016, I completed Class 12 with a strong percentage in PCM and was determined to pursue flying. However, like many students in India, I faced a harsh reality: pilot training is extremely expensive, and I did not have the financial support required. The dream of becoming a pilot had to pause, but my love for aviation did not. Instead of giving up, I started looking for other ways to stay connected to aircraft and the aviation industry.

That is when I discovered Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME). The idea of working hands-on with airplanes—ensuring their safety, reliability, and readiness to fly—instantly attracted me. While some relatives opposed my decision and advised me to choose a more “typical” path, I decided to trust my own instincts and follow my passion. In 2016, I took admission in BIA Patna and began my AME journey with full motivation and focus.

From 2016 to 2019, I immersed myself in AME training, learning the technical, mechanical, and regulatory aspects of aircraft maintenance. During this period, I also developed another skill that would later change my life: YouTubing and vlogging. I started creating content and sharing small pieces of my aviation world with others. One day, I uploaded a vlog about Bihar Flying Club, and that single video went viral with around 60,000 views. Many students began asking questions about AME, DGCA exams, aviation careers, and college choices. That was the moment I realized how many aspirants were searching for genuine guidance.

To serve those students better, I started “The Aviation Mind” YouTube channel, transforming my personal passion into a platform for education and mentorship. Around the same time, I began my On-the-Job Training (OJT) at Air India in Mumbai. This was my first real exposure to professional aviation maintenance, and it helped me connect classroom knowledge with real aircraft, real teams, and real responsibilities. After OJT, I received my first aviation job as a Technical Officer, a role I proudly handled for about three years.

Working inside the industry opened my eyes to the real challenges AME students face—confusing information, lack of proper mentorship, and difficulty in finding structured resources for DGCA modules. I continuously received messages from students asking for notes, exam strategies, career guidance, and honest opinions about colleges and jobs. Over time, one thing became very clear: students did not just want motivation; they wanted a proper, trusted platform dedicated to AME and DGCA exams.

In 2024, listening to the demands and expectations of students, I made a big decision. I chose to build an online platform exclusively for DGCA AME modules and aviation education—and that decision gave birth to the official “The Aviation Mind” website. The vision was simple but powerful:
to create a space where students could get systematic DGCA AME classes, honest college guidance, aviation blogs, and real-world insights from someone who had walked the same path.

Today, The Aviation Mind is not just a brand; it is a reflection of my journey—from a Class 10 student with a dream, to an AME trainee facing doubts, to an aviation professional and educator focused on helping the next generation. Every video, every blog, and every course on this platform is designed with one goal in mind: to make your aviation journey easier, clearer, and more successful than mine ever was.

If you are an aspirant who loves aircraft but feels confused about exams, colleges, or career choices, remember this: you are not alone. The Aviation Mind exists because of students like you—and this platform is here to guide you from your first doubt to your first job in aviation.
